Dropping off some photos.

Words are hard. I canʻt quite seem to find many right now, and I’ve decided that that is just fine by me. I have however been dying to share photographs that I have taken recently, so here they are. Lot’s of Kohala time plus some bonus photos of my dear friends from the last few months. Play Mermaid by Sade when scrolling through these, if you feel like it.

Through the keyhole we went.

Kohala Portals

February 10 - February 14, 2025

We walked through the keyhole in shrouded mist. We jumped straight into the cold water. The concept of portals made me think for some time and the conclusion I came to is that true portals do exist, yet they do not transport you elsewhere in time and space, but instead straight to the very time and space that occupies the present moment. It just takes a little boost sometimes to get there, and keyhole caves shrouded in mist definitely do the trick.

Gulch Therapy

March 3 - March 7, 2025

This Kohala trip felt something like a breakthrough with my new camera. It might have just been the subjects being so perfect and the lighting being mostly cooperative, but maybe I did a little something myself; who’s to say? All I know is there’s magic in these gulches.

ʻopelu, Lobelia hypoleuca, I named my 2012 Toyota Prius after this plant.

ʻapeʻape, Gunnera pelatoidea, my muse of the week.

A wall of ʻuluhe

All the ʻapeʻape was in flower, their large leaves catch the rain.

Friends

January - May, 2025

Human beings have become a favorite subject of photography for me lately, who would have thought? Good thing I have some freakishly good-looking ones around me most of the time. These photos make me smile as I am quite fond of their subjects.

Thanks for looking.
